Passport issued to German merchant 'Leo Brenner', bearing a large, red 'J' on the first page. The 'reisepass' was issued to the 42-year-old Brenner in Berlin on Oct. 22, 1938, still bears his identification photograph, and also bears his particulars on the adjoining page. The sixth page bears an untranslated inscription from an Italian bank, while the seventh page (largely torn off) bears a now-illegible inkstamp from the Paraguayan Consulate of Berlin, dated November 1938. A later page bears a visa application stamp at Milan, dated Dec. 19, 1938, authorizing his temporary stay in Palestine. Other stamps certify his single journey to Australia from the British Consulate of Milan, place him at Colombo, Sri Lanka in April 1939 en route to Australia, and a customs stamp from West Australia, dated April 25, 1939. One largely absent page as mentioned, the covers have been rebound with black string, else very good.
