Francois Desmonceauxs Treatise on Diseases of the Eyes and Ears is a late 18th-century medical text written for physicians and ophthalmologists. Desmonceaux is thought to the first doctor to suggest treatment of myopia (near sightedness) by extracting the outer lens of the eye. This 1786 first edition of Treatise of Diseases of the Eyes was published in Paris and contains an impressive full-page engraving of the anatomy of the human eye.
