Description
Continental, 19th century, upright carved Renaissance Revival walnut veneered coin operated orchestral music cabinet, having a foliate crest, disc player, glazed door, with single drawer and storage cabinet, and column-form pilasters. Also included are thirteen discs. Apparently unmarked. Approx. h. 84", w. 29.5", d. 18".
Condition
Not in working condition; key/crank is present; area of carving missing from left lower scroll on crest; evidence of previous worming (inactive); edgeware; upper case with multiple crew holes to sides, cracks to base, scuffs from door with lock not present, interior with later supports to mechanism and base cut to accommodate cord; lower case with crack to top, veneer loss to back right edge, escutcheon missing, scuffs from door; door/drawer keys are not present; one pin that secures discs to mechanism is missing; the discs in various conditions with some breaks, oxidation, finish losses, and dents, case is structurally sound.
