Description
The Port Folio, New Series, by Oliver Oldschool, Esq. Vol. VI. Philadelphia: Printed by Smith & Maxwell, 1808. Octavo, 416 pages. The entire year's worth of issues bound together in contemporary leather-backed marbled boards. Much of binding surface gone, not altogether clean inside, but a good UNTRIMMED copy of this volume of an important early American magazine.
Byron, George Gordon, Lord. The Works of Lord Byron: Embracing his Suppressed Poems, and A Sketch of his Life. Illustrated. Boston: Phillips, Sampson, and Co., 1856. Royal octavo, in orig. full embossed and gilt-stamped GIFT BINDING with marbled endpapers and all edges gilt. Front fly leaf inscribed: "To Miss Lizzie B.Wakely, on her Birthday July 12, 1858." Given Byron's reputation, and some of this volume's contents, this is a somewhat odd 1850s gift for a young lady. Corners slightly rubbed, else very good.
