James, 1847--this copy with t.p. date altered to 1848 by Palmer himself. Bottoms of each leaf lightly stained through p. 40. Stable copy in orig. sheep lacking most of spine. VERY EARLY pencil ownership inscription on front endpaper: “Clary Tatsworth / Concordia [?] Allegheny / Presented by Caroline Spence / Edmeston / Otsego N.Y.”
