AboutFlorence Victor - Thoughts On Love, n° 1 - Original Painting Dimensions: 48 x 48 cm Medium: Oil, Graphite, on Canvas Florence Victor lives and works in Montreal where she studied Literature (Université de Montréal), Theatre (UQAM) prior to her BFA (painting & drawing) at Concordia University. After studying Art History she did her Master’s on the Italian Renaissance (UQAM). She is currently doing her Phd in painting&art history (UQAM). Her work is part of corporate and private collections in Canada, USA, France, England and Australia. Florence Victor has always been interested in comparative studies; oppositions and links. After her studies in Literature and Theatre, she went to Paris, France. While spending day after day visiting the museums, she found in visual arts what she had been looking for in acting: commitment, intensity, communion, density. When she came back to Montreal, she went to art school. She began with sculpture and welding classes. She was attracted to monumental structures and paradoxically, at the same time, to fragility. Then, slowly, she drifted toward painting. As much as urban architecture — construction, deconstruction — books and monologues she had studied added another dimension to her work. Through literature, her paintings would be about human condition: life’s fragility, hope, love, rupture and solitude. Urban landscape stayed but became metaphorical.
