Description

Victorian/Edwardian 14kt Ruby Diamond Ring, Sz. 9. Appx. 8 CTW. This has a large round believed verneiuil ruby created at the end of the 1800's into very early 1900's. Four bezel-prongs hold the ruby that is appx. 13.2mm ruby. The prong are tapered wider from the undercarriage up to the top and have a bezel-edge holding the ruby. The stone situs up on the finger appx. 10.5mm from the top of the finger to the top of the ruby. The cut is a good cut but not quite the normal cut - Old European with a shorter table but not as high pavillion and the culet is cut but not a circle cut an angled cut that looks like the shape of a diamond. Going up the shoulder of the band toward the stone are three diamonds that have a very raw type cut - it has angles but more like a raw stone. There are three on one side and two on the other - the one side is missing a stone. My jeweler could not get one to repair it and they are quite small so even if a small diamond were put it in, you would likely not notice the difference without magnification. There is a wheatlike design on the shoulders up to the prong and some miligrain accents around the basket going around the stone. It is not marked but has been tested and is 14kt white gold with the weight at appx. 4.93 gr. Whether an engagement ring originally or just a ring it is a very beautiful stone and setting. The price takes into consideration the missing stone. It is not signed by the maker. Very good condition other than the missing stone. (INV. W. 41021.16X5 SS4481 J LD 10/13/21).
