African Weaponry; 3 ceremonial axes with decorative handles and iron and silver blades with carved wooden handles, two decorated with metal studs. Provenance: from Taylor University's Mabel P. Michel Collection. Proceeds benefit Taylor University endowed scholarship funds. Mabel was born in 1904 on a farm near Cresco, Iowa. She served as a missionary to Mozambique from 1930-1973, including furloughs under the Women's Foreign Missionary Society. During vacations she taught classes to girls in the villages and did some traveling to many places in Africa, including Rhodesia, Congo, Cape Town, Johannesburg, and Egypt. 16"L x 10"W (largest blade)
