East Asia, China, Qing Dynasty, ca. 18th to 19th century CE. An attractive S-shaped amulet depicting a dragon that is hand-carved from nephrite. The dragon presents in profile with an open fang-brandishing mouth, a prominent snout, eyes that peer forward, laid back ears with a long, curling frill emerging between them, and curved scales along its body. The piece is finely incised on both sides. A wonderful example of Chinese jadework. Size: 2.125" W x 3.25" H (5.4 cm x 8.3 cm)
