Description
Invented by Byron Alden Brooks in 1892 and manufactured by Garvin Machine Co. of New York. This is the second model which uses the Sjoberg ribbon system with a length of ribbon wrapped around the wheel and held in place with spring clips. This machine comes with 2 original spring clips which are impossible to find. In overall good condition retaining 95+% of original paint and stripe, plating should clean up nicely. Platen in fair / good condition with a bad spot near the center. Carriage currently does not move left or right but we believe that it just needs a good cleaning and lube. Mounted on original finish board and comes with original wood lid that is missing both swivel latches. Serial No. 4484. From the Howard Hazelcorn collection.
