Description
An original 1912 copy of CAISSON SICKNESS AND PHYSIOLOGY OF WORK IN COMPRESSSED AIR, by Leonard Hill. If you work in hyperbarics or diving safety this book will need no introduction. A “Genesis” level book. It was published four years after Haldane’s book, that Leonard Hill, Arthur Boycott and Guyborn Damant, were all involved in, which introducing staged decompression. The photos show the content page and others including photos of period equipment from Siebe Gorman. This book came from the estate sale of a USN doctor who passed away and is stamped from the Experimental Diving Unit when it was at the Navy Yard in Washington. There is a good chance that this book may have been checked out by Gunner Stillson and the team that developed the USN Mark V system 1914-1916. It later moved to the EDU Technical Library as stamped. The photos show the front and back stampings in the book, which has seen extensive wear as shown by the tape in those areas. The content of the book is in very good condition, but the spine is worn and detaching from the back cover in places as shown in the photographs. The covers are worn and in fair condition. The last two photos show the covers and spine of the book. Original copies of this book are in the hundreds of dollars so it may be worth having it rebound to protect the investment.
