Item Details

Description

Helmet bowl ("kabuto bachi") and six-piece neck guard ("shikoro"), visor ("mabizashi") and lateral protective elements ("fukigaeshi") covered with printed suede, front crest ("maedate") with Paulownia crest of the Mori clan.

Facial armour of the "hanbo" (or "hanpo") type, protecting the jaw and cheek area.

Cuirass ("dõ"), consisting of five parts which can be assembled by four hinges and closed on the right side by means of a toggle fastener. The front and back parts of the armour are connected by leather straps and cord material and are worn over the shoulder. Sleeves ("kote"), made of silk brocade, partly covered with chain mesh ("kusari"), the forearms protected by three lacquered leather plates. Shoulder protectors ("sode"), each made of two plates with family crest "mon".

Attached to the curirass, hip and thigh defence ("kusazuri"), seven-part, each consisting of five plates.

Thigh defence ("haidate"), each consisting of five leather plates, partly covered with fine chain mesh ("kusari"), attached to cloth apron sewn with silk brocade and suede stripes.

Shin guards ("suneate") of three plates each, knee guards of leather with metal plates sewn-on .
