Description

"Brooks" Typewriter, 1887
Designed by Byron A. Brooks, in unrestored condition, partially rusty but worthy of restoration. Along with the Fitch, the Waverley and North’s, the "Brooks" is one of the four early machines with typebars located behind the platen to allow for "visible writing" for the first time. At the time of its design, Byron A. Brooks was already part of the Sholes & Glidden development team.
