Description
Gu Jingzhou (1915-1996), formerly known as Jingzhou. Aliases: Manxi, Shouping, Wuling Yiren, Jingnan Shanqiao. Since the old man of pot, Lao Ping. Yixing Zisha famous artist, member of China Artists Association, master of Chinese arts and crafts. At the age of 18, he studied with a famous teacher. The late 1930s to Shanghai antique pot making. In 1954, he joined Yixing Shushan Ceramics Cooperative. In 1956, he was appointed as a technical counselor by the Jiangsu Provincial Government, and led apprentices Xu Hantang, Gao Haigeng, Li Changhong, Shen Yunhua, Shu Fengying, Wu Qunxiang and others. He participated in the National Arts and Crafts Congress three times in his life, and has a great influence in Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and Southeast Asia.
