DESCRIPTION: Riggs. & Brother, Philadelphia Howard number 1 regulator banjo clock. Signed to front plate twice; stamped top left by Howard & Co Boston overstamped by Riggs & Bros. Philadelphia, stamped along bottom "Riggs Philida". Painted metal dial with subsidiary second hand, unsigned. In cherry case with rosewood finish. MEASUREMENTS: 49-1/2" high x 6-1/4" deep x 19-3/4" wide. CONDITION: Very good. Runs. Includes service receipts. Last serviced March 2000. PROVENANCE: Per the consignor, the clock was gifted to the consignor's grandfather, who lived in Pottsville Pennsylvania, by the president of Lehigh Valley Railroad; the consignors grandfather was told that the clock had hung in a lighthouse in Maine.
