Folky 1959 oil on canvas board painting with WPA influence, showing St. Ann's Catholic Church in Tubac Arizona in its early years, with two figures in a horse drawn wagon in the foreground, and hills and dry trees in the background. Signed lower right Sturgeon. Information on the back identifies the artist as J. Sturgeon and dates the painting to 1959. It notes that the church "began 1752". Painting is duct taped into period frame. Frame, approx. 29" x 23". Sight, approx. 22 3/4" x 17". Provenance: Estate of Cayce Odom of Charlottesville, VA.
