Tetum / Tetun people antique or vintage ceremonial sarong, red cotton with rectangles of geometric patterns in supplemental warp. approx. 51" x 46". Acquired in the 1970s-1980 by the original owner, a collector who purchased a number of antique Indonesian textiles from Anita E. Spertus and Robert J. Holmgren, authors of "Early Indonesian Textiles from Three Island Cultures", published 1989 in conjunction with the exhibit "Early Indonesian Textiles from Three Island Cultures" at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, NYC. Provenance: Estate of Cayce Odom of Charlottesville, VA.
