Description
Ammie Paul (NC, 1872-1952), Published Redhead
Davis, North Carolina, published on page 272 of Waterfowl Heritage North Carolina Decoys and Gunning Lore by Neal Conoley.
Length 13 in.
Ammie was the caretaker of the Carteret Gun and Rod Club from 1903 to 1905. It is likely that he made this decoy there as it is an early example of his work. Ammie had a small blacksmith shop and also made oyster tongs, branding irons, and other tools. His decoys are highly collectible and very few exist in original paint.
