Description
A mid-20th century Iranian (Persian) unmarked silver cigarette case, Tabriz circa 1940 Pahlavi dynasty. Rectangular form, with a push button release. Chased decoration in Persepolis pattern, one side with a rock relief segment showing a seated King Darius with fan bearers above panels of Assyrian warriors, the opposing side with the rock relief depicting the rock relief of Xerxes being accompanied by two servants, with the winged symbol of Ahura Mazda (Ormuzd) supreme god of the Zoroastrian faith. Length – 12.5 cm / 4.8 inches Weight – 166 grams / 5.34 ozt
