Eastern Europe, Russia, ca. 19th century CE. Finely painted in egg tempera on wood, a lovely icon depicting 2 saints below Christ with a silvered copper border featuring an abstract embossed motif. Boasting hues of red, blue, green, brown, beige, tan, grey, black, and yellow, the saints stand facing one another and holding crosses, both displaying haloes and holding crosses with their names inscribed above them in Cyrillic script. Christ is shown blessing them from a gathering of clouds above. A lovely example! Size: 3.5" W x 4.625" H (8.9 cm x 11.7 cm)
