Location of Property, Tombstone District, Pima County, Arizona (printed at bottom center). Not cancelled. Vignette in upper right corner of 3 Native Americans on a cliff overlooking a train below; the left corner has scene of a Native American seated, bow over his shoulder. Pale green background. ABN. 7 x 11" Folds, pinholes. In 1879, Governor A.P.K. Safford visited the camp and, together with Frank Corbin of New Britain, Connecticut, he organized the Tombstone Mill & Mining Company. He commissioned Richard K. Gird to erect a stamp and amalgamating mill, which was completed in 1879. In March 1880, the Schieffelin interest in the TM&MC was bought out by a syndicate consisting of the Corbin brothers and others. Burchard (1883) states that the Tombstone Mill & Mining Company, which comprises the Tough Nut, Good Enough, Lucky Cuss, D tense, Survey, Tribute, West Side, East Side, No.2, Owl's Nest, and Owl's Nest Last Hoot mines, and two mills located at Charleston, with a 30 stamp capacity.
