Original Sketches of Opera Stars: Gustav Mahler (1860-1911), Otto Goritz (1873-1929), Alois Burgstaller (1871-1945), Anton van Rooy (1870-1932), and Enrico Caruso (1873 – 1921)
Robert Blass created these sketches in 1908 Boston MA, where all these great musicians performed.
Sight 10 1/4”x 6 1/8”. Frame 17 3/8”x 13 3/4”.
Joined together two notebook pages with coffey stains and smudges, caused probably by Mr. Blass himself.
Robert Blass (1867 New York - 1930 Berlin, Germany), American Opera Bass educated in NY public schools, Blass studied violin in the Leipzig Conservatory in 1887, upon discovery of operatic voice, he continued under Gustav Ewald and in Frankfurt with Julius Stockhausen. Debuted in 1895 at Weimar. In 1900-1922 had 481 performances at NY Metropolitan Opera (MET).
