Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A fabulous and stylish necklace comprised of dozens and dozens of hand-cut, hand-polished, and hand-drilled carnelian beads of various shapes - rounded, disc, lozenge, barrel, and tubular - and hues ranging from tangerine to tomato red to ruby red - along with a black and a white quartz bead to keep it interesting - alternating with several tastefully placed gold-plated spacer beads. Strung in modern times with a modern clasp - a gorgeous and wearable example! Size (necklace): 19" L (48.3 cm); (white quartz bead): 0.25" W (0.6 cm)

Strung in modern times and wearable as shown. Beads are ancient, and stringing, loop, and clasp are modern. Minor nicks and abrasions to some beads, otherwise intact and very good. Nice surface smoothness throughout.
