4to, 20 unnumbered pp. (small tape adhesions, one small tear near spine, overall very good).
SIGNED BY LOUIS ARMSTRONG on p.5 (not numbered). ALSO SIGNED by Velma Middleton, Trummy Young, Barney Bigard, Billy Kyle, Danny Barcelona, and Mort Herbert. Provenance: Consignor acquired this program in April 1960 at Worcester Auditorium (annotated on inside cover).
Program for his world tour, with photos of Armstrong in Japan, Hawaii, Norway and newspaper reproductions that indicate his travel to Africa, Switzerland,, England (playing for Princess Margaret), Australia, and possibly going to Russia. The program also contains photos of "Satchmo" in various films - "High Society," "The Glenn Miller Story," Doctor Rhythm, " "Going Places." Armstrong's biography in the program lists his birthdate as 4 July 1900, something he often claimed, rather than the more recently discovered 4 August 1901.
