Frederick Usher De Voll
Rhode Island, 1873-1941
Impressionist depiction of a figure draped in red walking beside a white picket fence while flower trees tower overhead. De Voll studied under William Merritt Chase, Charles W. Hawthorne, and Robert Henri, as well as at the Academie Julian in Paris under the instruction of Jean-Paul Laurens. His works can be found at Rhode Island School of Design Museum, the National Academy, the Corcoran Gallery, and the Art Institute of Chicago among others.
