Description
A very fine and rare old beaded panel of a skirt, a colorful cache-sex, or pikuran, from the Kirdi people of Cameroon. This small triangular 'tanga' style was probably worn by a younger woman for protection against the evil eye and also to attract attention. The old Bohemian glass beads were usually strung in geometric patterns. The Skirt measures 6 x 5 inches, and mounted on a plexiglass rod. Provenance: An old Maryland collection since the 1980/90's.
