Description
Robert Hopkin, Scottish/American, 1832-1909. Oil on canvas seascape, depicts several fishermen unloading their catch at low tide. Signed at the lower right "R. Hopkin", additionally signed verso. This painting is in a remarkable state of preservation without restoration, it retains its original gilded frame and shadowbox with paper label by "William O'Leary Fine Arts, 236 Woodward Ave., Detroit". Image 7 x 9" high, framing 4 1/2 x 19 x 21" high overall. ESTIMATE $1,500-2,500 NOTE: The Hopkin Club, later The Scarab Club in Detroit was named in honor of Robert Hopkin who mentored many Detroit area artists around the turn of the century.
Condition
Very good condition, without restoration in the original framing.
