Description
Pre-Columbian, Ecuador/Colombia, Narino, ca. 850 to 1500 CE. A very large earthenware olla of an unusual shape - comprised of a rounded bottom, a dramatically corseted shoulder, and a relatively short tubular neck leading to a flared rim. A striking example, the exterior intricately decorated via the Narino signature negative resist technique with stylized geometric and striated motifs in red, black, and beige hues. Size: 11.75" in diameter x 10.5" H (29.8 cm x 26.7 cm)
