T. Roosevelt Spanish-American War-Era Patriotic Tie Clip
A reversible men's tie clip dating from the Spanish-American War period, featuring an American flag and a portrait of Theodore Roosevelt (1858-1919) in his Rough Rider uniform. Each tie clip button features a printed image in color framed under glass. The brass-finished tie pin is engraved "Patented Feb. 8. 1898" verso. Expected light surface wear and isolated corrosion verso, else near fine. 2.125" wide x .875" high.
The American cruiser "U.S.S. Maine" exploded in the harbor of Havana, Cuba on February 15, 1898, providing the immediate catalyst for the 3-month-long Spanish-American War.
