Description
A Rare 19th century Sioux Native American Indian top hat from possibly the post Indian war era of 1860's. The hat features a large Indian War brass eagle in the front with a band of glass trade beads belt & buckle. The beads design consist of arrows, The second national flag of the Confederate States of America, Swastikas and several other tribal colorful symbols.The Beaver hat's inner lining bares the DOUBLE LION trade mark of JOTHAM & SONS MANUFACTURERS on 26 & 27 st. MARY st. CARDIFF UK ESTABLISHED IN 1838.The top hat comes with the original Tin metal casing hatbox with a metal latch and handle. It measures 9" inches wide x 11.25" long and is 7" inches tall.
Condition
Generally in good condition with some areas of wear to the rim & the top of the hat.Loose and damaged silk inner lining. The buckle is rusty, the eagle brass has stains & corrosion marks.
