A Victorian silver and parcel-gilt jug with a matching pair of goblets
Elkington & Co, Birmingham 1868, incused LIVERPOOL
The jug of baluster shape, to one side an elaborately cast and chased leaf, beaded and scrolling handle terminating in a female mask, and around the body a frieze of embossed griffins and classical motifs against a matted ground, the goblets with a band of swans, on twisted beaded stems, both on a spreading circular foot topped with four matching female masks, raised laurel leaves to the border, all with gilt interiors and engraved with the family crest for ATFIELD, height ewer 24cm, diameter ewer approx 18cm, weight total 71oz.
