About the artist:Born on September 10, 1939 in Dneprodzerzhinsk, Dnipropetrovsk region.
He graduated from the Dnipropetrovsk Art School (1967) and the Kharkov Art and Industry Institute (1973). Works in the field of easel painting. He studied under G. Chernyavsky, A. Konstantypolsky, A. Martynets. Since 1972, he actively participates in exhibitions - regional, republican, and foreign. Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine since 1988. Lives and works in Sumy. Works of the artist were shown at numerous exhibitions both in Ukraine and in other countries.
Ivan Shapoval - an artist with a poetic worldview and attitude, his philosophy - the search and image of the beauty and harmony of man and nature.
Unlike many artists, Ivan Shapoval professes his own style, which was formed under the conditions of "harsh realism", which, more and more, since the late 80s of the twentieth century, has acquired a tangible lyrical, poetic tint.
In recent years, the artist at the expense of bright decorativeness tries to emphasize not only the external beauty, but also a deep sense of the beauty of nature. The combination of realism and decoration underlines the artist’s creative style, the diverse themes of his works, the main genre of which is landscape, and nature remains one of the main sources of creative inspiration for the artist, where beauty exists as something absolute, eternal.
