Description
Riley Whiting, Winchester, Connecticut, Circa 1830. The painted circular white dial with Roman numerals and centered by a floral garland, fitted with blued steel hands, within embossed gold spandrels, above an eglomise panel depicting a classical building and trees, the door flanked by engaged half columns stencilled in mustard with leaves, the scalloped crest with an apple in a basket, raised on frontal leaf and paw feet, affixed on the interior with "MODERN IMPROVED CLOCKS, MADE AND SOLD BY RILEY WHITING, WINCHESTER, CONN.," with weights, pendulum and key. H: 30.5 in., W: 17.25 in., D: 6.125 in.
