1917 DEAR WIFE ARGONNE 75 MM Trench Art Shell Casing. This shell commemorates someones wife who died at the battle of Argonne. Meuseâ€“Argonne was the principal engagement of the American Expeditionary Force (AEF) during World War I. It was one of a series of Allied attacks known as the Hundred Days Offensive, which brought the war to an end. The artistry on this shell includes a shield with a double cross, butterfly and flowers with additional etchings and crimping. The base of the shell reads 75 DEC SN 123L 17 BX. It measures 13 5/8" Tall.
