Elizabeth Vila Taylor Watson (1863 - 1949) Boston school portrait of boy. The painting is signed in the top right corner and dated 1925. The painting is in its original 1920s frame. The board size is approximately 27 inches tall by 22 inches wide.Elizabeth Vila Taylor Watson —born in New Jersey in 1863 and died in 1949 — was an active painter of portraits from the 1880s to the 1940s. She studied with Joseph Rodefer De Camp (1858-1923) and Edmund Charles Tarbell (1862-1938) at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Watson worked on Clark's Island in Plymouth, MA during the summer, and in 1933, her address was 404 Fenway Studios, Ipswich St., Boston, MA.Watson was a member of the Boston Art Student's Association, 1887; the Copley Society, 1887; Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts; the Gloucester Society of Artists; Duxbury Artists; and the Boston Art Club. Her exhibitions and awards include a bronze medal at the Tennessee Centennial Exposition, Nashville, 1897; an honorable mention at the Springfield Art Club; the Poland Springs Art Gallery, 1898; the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, 1898; the Philadelphia Art Club, 1898; a prize at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston; the Vose Galleries
