Description

Cased early 20th century Walker's Cherub III Taffrail Ship Log presenting log mechanism and trailing rotator. System was manufactured by Thomas Walker & Son, Birmingham, England with log mechanism serial numbered AE4043. Log mechanism shows large scale marked from 0 to 100 miles and two smaller dials marked from 0 to 1000 miles and 0 to 1 mile. Rotator measures 14" in length. Unit housed in labeled box measuring 11" x 19" x 5.5" that exhibits some revarnishing. This type of instrument determined distance travelled and in conjunction with the ship's chronometer could be used to determine ships speed. **Please Note: This item is NOT eligible for in-house shipping.
