Dimensions: 6 1/8" diameter ; 1 3/8" height

For your consideration is a Chinese 'Yaozhou' molded celadon bowl from the Northern Song Dynasty. This Northern Song 'greenware' bowl displays an overall floral shape with a gently formed foliate rim with molded decorations that 'partition' the design into petal shaped sections. The bowl has large, flat center whose exterior is lined with a 'ruyi' or linked cloud decoration. Interior to this design is a central medallion with a dragon decoration. Overall, the glaze is even, translucent and an even craquelure is noted over the entire surface of the vessel. Additionally, all molded elements are well defined and accentuate the design.
Provenance: From the private collection of a retired Army Major General in San Antonio, Texas.

Condition
Item is in excellent condition with no damage, breaks, chips, cracks or repairs except for one very very small superficial (not full thickness) chip at the rim. Interestingly, this very small chip allows us to visualize the underlying greyish clay body and further verify age/location of manufacture. Please see all images for more information on condition.
