Description
An antique French Belle Epoque bronze cherub figurine holding a clock in one hand on the dark green marble base. Inscripted L'amour vagabond and signed Par Bruchon on the mount plate. Circa late 19th century. Emile Bruchon (French, 1806-1895) was a quintessential Belle Epoque decorative artist known for his lamps, clocks, and bronze statuettes. Throughout his works, he often chose to depict historical or mythological figures, such as the title character of Falubert's 1862 novel Salammbo. Bruchon's work is characterized by finely detailed decorative motifs embedded in otherwise utilitarian objects.
