Beaux is recognized as 1 of the best portrait painters in American History. She is a near contemporary of Mary Cassatt who studied in Philadelphia and France. She was commissioned by the Roosevelts in Washington D.C. and also became a member of the National Academy of Design. Her works were later compared to John Singer Sargeant.
