Description
This is a nice Terre Haute, Indianapolis & Eastern Traction Company Adlake Non-Sweating round top LEFT side marker lantern. Extremely rare and almost impossible to find item. The lantern is complete, with the correct fount and burner. Good paintwork/metalwork with the only blemishes being due to age. One red and one blue lens with no cracks. "T.H.I & E.T. Co." is clearly cast into the top of the lantern. "LEFT" is also cast into the lantern. Rare bell bottom model. The THI&ET Company was the second largest interurban in Indiana in the 1920s, which were considered the height of the interurban era. The company began in 1907 and then was absorbed into the Indiana Railroad in 1931. They had over 400 miles of tracks. Visible minor rust on very bottom.
