Description
**First Time At Auction**
Pre-Columbian, Central Coast of Peru, Chancay, ca. 800 to 1200 CE. A set of 2 textile fragments that are tightly woven from natural cotton or camelid (alpaca or llama wool) fibers in hues of taupe, beige, khaki, sage, and sand. First is a slender tassel of a lengthy form with 9 attenuated bands that create a segmented presentation. The largest fragment is a large coca bag panel bearing several horizontal stripes of thick and thin forms, each intersected with a light green-blue stripe. Size of largest (panel fragment): 12.2" L x 8.5" W (31 cm x 21.6 cm); (frame): 15.6" W x 12.5" H (39.6 cm x 31.8 cm)

Condition
Textile fragments have not been examined outside of frame. Both textiles are fragments of larger compositions as shown. Both pieces have light staining and fading to original coloration, with minor loosening and fraying to some interior and peripheral threads. Nice preservation to overall forms. Both pieces are displayed within a modern frame for display purposes.
