Provincially made, 18th century or later. French style, 15 3/4" length, with broad spear point and triple base spikes. Tubular socket with a hole for a mounting pin. The American and French Revolutions both occasioned the manufacture of weapons by blacksmiths and other skilled craftsmen. Polearms were the most common, as they were easily constructed, could be used effectively by untrained soldiers, and required no logistical support as did guns. Excellent preservation with original tool finish.
