Description

This is a lovely early sander. It is hand-turned and has the typical drilled holes in the shape of a star. It has a wonderful patina! This type of sander was used for blotting ink. The sand was put in through the holes and sprinkled on the fresh ink of a written note to absorb the excess. This one is probably English. But a wonderful example! Measuring 2 3/4" tall with a diameter of 2 1/2". It has one tiny hairline crack that has been there forever and is secure.
