Description
Nice early treen sander. Also called a pounce pot, these were used to pour pounce - fine sand - for blotting ink. Made with a recessed top, so the pounce then be poured back into the sander. Circa late 18th or early 19th Century. Could be English or American. Beautiful wood with wonderful patina, graining and one area of burl. The holes are arranged in the pattern of a six sided star. Excellent condition. Measures about 3 1/16" tall.
