Description
A pair of Chinese lacquered lanterns, Qing Dynasty. Square in shape, each side has a panel of glass with calligraphy and a small landscape behind. Top and bottom panels have open carved scrollwork with designs. Remnants of red paint. Hole in top for light and wired will pull chain. Each of 4 corner posts extend past top with carved bats on lotus bases. Larger lantern also has calligraphy panels behind glass, but no landscapes. Both lanterns work when plugged in.

Provenance: Estate of Dr. Silvio Riccio,Internal Medicine Physician,Nanuet, New York.
Condition: Good condition overall for age and use. Loss to a carved frieze on base, other losses to scrollwork. Grime, evidence of age throughout.
