A Chinese famille rose figure of an Old Deity, an Immortal, late 18th Century.,This rare figure of Immortal Z'ao Ku Ch''iu, brother to an empress and patron deity of actors depicts him playfully dosing his clappers. A dignitary's headdress and holding his symbol of a pair of castanets.
H. 18.5" (47 cm)
Provenance: Estate of Dr. Silvio Riccio,Internal Medicine Physician,Nanuet, New York originally purchased from Jorge Welsh, Oriental Porcelain & Works of Art, London, UK Pd. $7,750, in March 12, 1996.
Condition: in overall fair condition with some restoration done by consolidation technique, mostly to extremities.
