Description
Egyptian motif porcelain platter and small plates, the origins of the pattern the 19th C. service designed by Gaetano Lodi for the service commissioned by the Egyptian Khedive (Viceroy) Is'mail Pasha, also known as Ismail the Magnificent. Ginori's top designers spent several years studying the (then still quite unknown) motifs of ancient Egypt before beginning the commission. All pieces with the red crowned mark: "Ginori Italy", platter with additional green "Ginori" stamp with "B". Platter approx. 16" x 11". Ten small (7 1/4") plates with red crowned mark "Ginori Italy" and with additional green "Ginori" stamp with letter D or O below. Minor wear to enamels and gilt, platter with minor old chips to foot rim; no other chips, cracks or hairlines found.
