Circa 200 – 300 AD.A gold ring with expanding D-section hoop and angled shoulders, pelta-shaped openwork plaque to each shoulder, large, raised bezel inset with a jasper intaglio depicting a cockerel, possibly connected to the gnostic cult. For a similar ring style: Cf. Spier, J., Ancient Gems and Finger Rings, Catalogue of the Collection, Malibu, 1992, p. 140, no. 385, for a similar carnelian intaglio.
