Description
Middle Kingdom, 11th – 12th Dynasty, circa 2030 – 1640 BC. A wooden figure in the form of a seated boatman or oarsman characteristically in a kneeling position, with holes for attachable arms. The figure was painted in a thin layer of gesso and painted in red, black, and cream pigment. For similar see: O.W.
