BIOGRAPHY:
Born March 3, 1914, in Philadelphia, Bill was the son of Walter L. Subers and Anna Peter.He graduated from Germantown High School in 1932.He was married to Helen Louise Seymour, also of Philadelphia, in April, 1939. They lived in the Philadelphia area until Mr. Subers joined the United States Navy during World War II.While in the service, he trained in photography, a hobby of his since boyhood. He was honorably discharged as a Photographer's Mate Second Class, having attained the American Area Campaign Medal, flying with many reconnaissance missions out of Florida and Seattle.After the war he settled in New Jersey and became a graphic arts photographer. He was employed for most of his career by Village Craftsmen of Rosemont, N.J.Besides his lifelong interest in photography, Mr. Subers enjoyed woodworking, birding, nature, gardening, classical music and people.He participated in scouting all his life and was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Solebury, Pa. Upon retirement, he took up oil painting and received many awards for his landscapes of Hunterdon County, N.J., and adjacent Bucks County, Pa. His final work as an artist was only recently completed, as he assisted the members of Girl Scout Cadette Troop No. 5 of South Glens Falls in painting a mural of the Four Seasons of the Adirondacks in the Wellness Center at The Landing of Queensbury.
